Solar Pathway Lights

Not so long ago it would have been wishful thinking to have your pathways lit up in a way that would cost nothing to operate and would turn on automatically every night. Well as you probably know that is exactly what solar pathway lights offer to us all right now.

How Good Are They Really

The answer to this question largely depends on what your expectations are of solar lights. You are probably aware that solar lights usually are not as bright as their 240V cousins. Nevertheless there is a place for solar powered lights and one thing is certain, the new versions are a greatly improved product from their predecessors.

Together with the introduction of new and improved PV solar charging panels and LED lights they are now a more reliable and practical unit. With this in mind you can now imagine that lights such as solar pathway lights are an asset to have when illuminating those dark pathways that meander throughout your garden.

Do I need a Tradesman to Install Them?

Not usually as most models need only be inserted into the soil via the spiked pedestal that is a part of the design. However there are exceptions to this with some variations of solar pathway lights designed to be incorporated into the path itself. These models require more thought and preparation to install but the end result can be outstanding.

So the choice is all yours but the popular spiked models would be the most common example used for this application with the advantage of being able to relocate them if necessary.

Life Expectancy

As mentioned previously with the latest technology the operational components of the latest versions of solar lights means that their life expectancy has been considerably extended. The Light Emitting Diodes (LED's) can last up to and beyond 100,000 hours of operation. The common cause of failure is for the internal battery to die. Or the kids have accidentally kicked them to death!

Providing you initially choose good quality lights there is no reason why you couldn't expect 3 to 4 years of reliable service from the product. Even then they would most likely only need a new battery and some TLC for them to live on for awhile longer.

Many Models to Choose From

Choosing the right solar light for your application can be downright confusing so I have listed here for you some of the more common types of solar lights.

  • Solar Powered Yard Lights
  • Stainless Steel Solar Garden Lights
  • Solar Pathway Lights
  • Solar Walkway Lights
  • Solar Power Garden Lights
  • Solar Floodlights
  • Solar Step Lights
  • Solar Patio Lights

Be the Envy of Your Friends

There's no doubting that when you enter someone's home and garden after dark and they have a fine selection of solar pathway lights softly illuminating their pathways, leading up to the front door, leaves a lasting impression of a classy residence. Why not let this be your story too and be the envy of your friends.
